How to create a Windows 11 installation USB

We are going to explain to you How to create a bootable USB to install Windows 11 on your PC so you can use it on another computer with the minimum Windows 11 requirements. This way, if you're installing Windows 11 on a PC other than the one you're downloading it from, you can have everything ready on a USB stick.

In Xataka Basics we have already told you how to download a Windows 11 ISO. And although creating a bootable USB device is quite similar to installing Windows is downloaded and copied to a USB drive unwrite-protected and formatted instead of being saved to an ISO file.

We'll try to explain the entire process in a simple and understandable way, so you can do it without any problems.

Bootable USB to install Windows 11

The first thing you have to do is enter the Windows 11 download and installation website, whose address is microsoft.com/es-es/software-download/windows11Once in it, you have to Click on the Download Now button Create Windows 11 installation media. It's the second option on the page. This will download an .exe file to your computer, and you'll need to double-click it to launch it.

When you run the file, you will first see a screen telling you that preparations are being made, and after a few seconds you will go to another screen where you will first have to accept the terms of use and license. It's a bit of a long text, so I'll leave it up to you whether you want to read it or not, but in any case you'll have to accept the terms and click Accept to continue.

You will go to another screen where you can choose the language, edition and architecture Windows installation. Your computer's current settings are preselected, and you don't usually need to change them, but you can uncheck the box Use the recommended options for this computer if you want to do it. When you're ready, press Next.

And we will get to the most important part, since in the next window you have to choose option USB flash drive instead of ISO file. As indicated in the text, you need a USB drive that has a minimum of 8 GB of free space to be able to copy the Windows installation.

You will now arrive at a new window where You must select the USB you want to use from the list of connected devices and click on NextIf you don't see it listed, unplug and replug the USB into your computer, and tap Update the list of units for Windows search again. Remember that This will erase all data on your flash drive., so you should have first made sure that it does not have any data that you do not want to lose.

That's it, in the next step the application will begin creating your bootable USB. This can take a while.  Because it will first download the Windows 11 file, and then copy it to the memory after formatting it. Whether the process takes half an hour or several hours will depend on your connection speed and the speed of your computer.

And once the process is complete, you can remove the USB and use it on any other device you want.
