As always, we recommend that you back up your data before installing any preview versions, as they may contain bugs or issues that could affect your device. You can also share your feedback and report any issues through the Feedback Hub app or the Windows Insider forums.

If you are a Windows 10 22H2 user on the Release Preview Channel, you may want to check out the latest optional update from Microsoft. The company released update KB5031445 as a preview of the upcoming Patch Tuesday update that will bring non-security related improvements and fixes to the operating system.

The KB5031445 update includes several bug fixes and enhancements that aim to improve the performance and reliability of Windows 10 22H2. Some of the notable changes are:

– Fixed a memory leak issue that could cause some applications to consume excessive memory over time.

– Updated time zone information for Syria to reflect the end of daylight saving time on October 29, 2023.

– Fixed an issue that prevented some printer drivers from installing correctly on devices with secure boot enabled.

To install the KB5031445 update, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click the Check for updates button. Then, in the Available optional updates section, you will see the link to download and install the update. You can also download the standalone package from the Microsoft Update Catalog website.

As this is a preliminary update, it is not mandatory to install it. However, if you would like to test the latest fixes and enhancements before they are available to everyone, you may choose to install them. Please note that preview updates may contain some problems or bugs, so be sure to back up your data before proceeding. If you encounter any problems after installing the update, you can uninstall it from the Settings app or use the System Restore feature to revert to a previous state.

Microsoft is expected to release the final version of the KB5031445 update as part of the Patch Tuesday Update on November 9, 2023. The Patch Tuesday update will also include security fixes and cumulative updates for other versions of Windows 10.

If you are still using Windows 10, you may want to download the latest update KB5031445. This update includes some security and performance improvements for your system. You can download it manually from the Microsoft Update catalog or wait for it to be installed automatically through Windows Update.

However, if you don’t want to wait, you can also force the update from Settings > Update and security > Windows Update. There you will see a «Check for updates» button that will check for available updates. If you see the optional update KB5031445, you can select it and click «Download and install» to start the process.

But remember, Windows 10 won’t last forever. Microsoft has announced that it will stop supporting this version of Windows on October 14, 2025. That means no more updates, security patches or support. If you want to keep your computer up-to-date and secure, you should consider upgrading to Windows 11, Microsoft’s latest and most advanced operating system.

Windows 11 offers many new features and improvements, such as a redesigned Start menu, a new taskbar, instant layouts, widgets, Android app support and more. It also has higher security standards and better performance than Windows 10. You can check if your device meets the minimum requirements for Windows 11 using the PC Health Check app.

If you are eligible for the upgrade, you can perform an in-place upgrade or a clean install. An in-place upgrade will preserve your files, settings and applications, while a clean install will erase everything and start over. Both methods have their pros and cons, so choose the one that best suits your needs.
