Restoring ‘classic’ menus in Office 2007
If you are one of the many users who have switched to Office 2007, you will have noticed that the interface is quite different from previous versions. The most notable change is the replacement of the traditional menus and toolbars with a new feature called the Ribbon. The Ribbon is designed to make it easy to access the commands and functions you need, but some users may find it confusing or inconvenient.

If you are one of those users who misses the old menus and toolbars, you may be wondering if there is a way to restore them in Office 2007. The answer is yes, but it requires a third-party add-in. In this blog post, I will show you how to install and use a free add-in called UBitMenu that can bring back the classic Office 2007 menus.
UBitMenu is a simple and lightweight add-in that adds a new tab to the ribbon called Menu. This tab contains all the familiar menus and toolbars from Office 2003 and earlier. You can use them together with the Ribbon or hide the Ribbon altogether if you prefer. UBitMenu works with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook 2007.
To install UBitMenu, follow these steps:
Go to https://www.ubit.ch/software/ubitmenu-languages/ and download the installer for your language.
2. Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Restart your Office 2007 applications if they are open.
4. You should see a new tab on the ribbon called Menu. Click on it to access the classic menus and toolbars.
To hide the ribbon and use only the classic menus, follow these steps:
1. Click the Menu tab in the ribbon. 2.
2. Click on Tools > Customize > Options.
3. Check the box that says Hide ribbon.
4. Click on OK.
To show the tape again, follow these steps:
1. Right-click on any menu or toolbar and select Customize Quick Access Toolbar. 2.
2. Check the box that says Show quick access toolbar below the ribbon.
3. Click OK.
4. Click on the arrow next to the quick access toolbar and select Minimize Ribbon.
I hope this blog post has helped you restore the classic Office 2007 menus. If you have any questions or comments, please leave a comment below.
Many people, myself included, had a hard time adjusting to the Ribbon interface that Office 2007 introduced. I was so used to the old drop-down menus that I knew them by heart. Why did Microsoft have to change something that worked so well? How am I supposed to find the commands I need without wasting time and energy?
Fortunately, there is a solution: UBitMenu. This free add-in brings back the familiar Office 2007 drop-down menus. And it doesn’t remove the ribbon either, so you can still access the new features and learn to use them at your own pace.
UBitMenu adds a new tab to the ribbon, called Menu. When you click on it, you will see the classic File, Edit, View, Insert, Format and other menus that you have been missing.
UBitMenu is a great tool that restores the classic Office menu to the latest versions. It allows you to access all the familiar commands and options without losing the new features and improvements of Office 2007. You can switch between the old and new interfaces with a single click.
This is very useful for anyone who has difficulty finding common Office functions in the ribbon interface. UBitMenu is also free to use, which is a nice bonus. Don’t you think this is a wonderful solution?
